Sister Bee Fresh Review: Unique Natural Moisturizer
I have pretty sensitive combination skin. When my favorite moisturizer tweaked its formula, my acne gets worse, and my skin is no longer satisfied with it. A fellow sensitive skin will know how annoying it is to find a suitable skin care product. Little did I know, this unfortunate change introduced me to Bee Fresh.
What is Bee Fresh?
Bee Fresh is a moisturizer by Sister Bee. It is founded by 3 beautiful women, Kimberly, Amber, and Kelly. When I take a look at their website, turn out they have more than just moisturizer. Sister Bee sells candle wax, cookies, lip balm, deodorant, and many more. Anything a bee can produce, these sisters seem to find a way to make it awesome.
How Did I stumble upon Bee Fresh?
As someone with sensitive skin, I have a fear of trying different skincare. I have used my last moisturizer for the past 25 years! You can imagine the commitment. I tried to ‘cheat’ on my ex moisturizer before. The consequences? my face breaks out like crazy!
I do not want to make my face break out even more by trying multiple products. I want to buy one product I have research carefully, and I want it to work.
Brick and mortar store is not my thing. Why? Simple, when you go to the store, it looks weird if I’m just standing at one counter there for a long time. You know, comparing products and google each ingredient at the same time. Worse, the salesperson can magically push me to buy a product I will regret later.
The online store is my favorite shopping method. Nobody tells me anything. I can research as long as I like and buy them anytime. On top of that, I do not have to leave the house. Perfect for any homebody like me.
My last moisturizer was easy to find since it’s distributed by a well-known company. At first, I want to find something similar to it. Alas, most of these huge companies change their formula for better or worse. Some people like the new formula. However, the Existing customer most likely gives a thumbs down. Seems risky to try, I thought.
Constant is my skin favorite word. I decided to go to a smaller company. There is a higher chance they keep their products the same. Although, that means I might not find a bunch of reviews for them.
The main ingredient has to be something I am sure of. I thought to myself, what are things I’ve tried on my face and comfortable with? Honey comes to mind.
I remember using raw honey for my chapped lips. My favorite book, ‘Islamic Medicine: The Key to a Better Life’ states, honey and beeswax has multiple usages, including skincare.
Scrolling through different products on Amazon, nothing interests me. I decided to filter by reviews and price. I choose a range that is not too cheap nor expensive and has average 5 stars reviews.
Bee Fresh actually comes on top with no 1-star review at that time. It costs 13 dollars for 7 ounces. Not too shabby.
Although my gut feeling says yes to Bee Fresh, I did not buy it immediately. I actually scrolled down some more to see the alternatives. My guts did not buzz me up as Sister Bee did.
Why I ended up choosing Sister Bee?
“Real People, Real Ingredient, Real result,” Bee Sister says on their profile.
Part of the reason I choose to try Bee Fresh is I can read their ingredients. Meaning, I have some ideas about what they are without taking a chemistry class.
As stated on the packaging above, it contains coconut oil, almond oil, beeswax, jojoba oil, vitamin E, aloe vera, and oil blend. Putting coconut and almond oil on your face sounds weird but scientific wise it is not.
Dermatologist, Dr. Purvisha Patel says, Coconut oil can seal moisture into the skin. On the other hand, almond oil is a hypoallergenic, powerful moisturizer. Combine both with beeswax that is a healer and skin softener makes this little can of moisturizer pack a punch.
3 days later, I finally decide to buy Bee Fresh. I could have bought it sooner, but there is one factor that held me back. Sister Bee does not have a beauty blogger review.
Sure, I can read their positive reviews on their social media and Amazon, but it still doesn’t give me a full picture of the actual product quality. Thankfully, I am here to help you to know this product quality based on my experience. You do not have to gamble as I did.
Bee Fresh Review First Impression
Bee Fresh arrives pretty fast, almost less than 2 days. Either it is because I live in the same state, or the Sister Bee handling process is pretty good.
The can is wrapped in a plastic pouch. Maybe it prevents the can dirty or wet, although I did not see the point. Anyway, I like how compact and small it is. If I have to travel anywhere, Bee Fresh will not take a lot of space in my bag, or causing issues with Airport policy.
If you are familiar with Icy hot Balm, you will find Bee Fresh texture similar to it. At first glance, Bee Fresh is thick, waxy, and frankly heavy.
The smell is odd. It is herbally with a hint of sweetness from the beeswax. Bee Fresh smell does not annoy me nor impress me. It is an alright smell.
Nevertheless, my skin was dehydrated that day, I promise myself to give this moisturizer a try, so I did.
Sister Bee’s Instagram told me a little goes a long way. I swap my finger on it. As you can see in the picture, I did not take a lot. That tiny amount shown on the picture is for my whole face.
I am used to creamy moisturizer, so applying a waxy like moisturizer feels odd at first. Surprisingly, my skin welcomes this product really well. I do not know if it is due to coconut oil or almond oil, but my skin ‘drinks’ it up like sponges. In a few minutes, my skin feels soft and supple.
My husband has oily skin, and he does not wear face moisturizer at all. It was cold outside, his skin was flaky, so I tried it on him.
I probably apply a little too much. He was not fond of it. However, I can tell his cheek feels softer after I put Bee Fresh on him. Yet, I can tell his forehead gets very oily. Let me know in the comment if you experience the same thing.
A Month using Bee Fresh
As a homebody and a freelancer, I did not go outside that much. Bee Fresh actually keeps me moisturized for quite a long time. I typically apply it once a day. Sometimes I even skip it every 2 days.
Going outside is a different story for my skin. It gets dry as a desert to a point it sometimes hurting me. I find Sister Bee helps me a lot with this problem. I apply it before I leave the house and, I did not experience the usual dryness. In fact, when I’m back inside, my skin still feels smooth.
Since a little amount goes a long way, I am saving money. Considering the tiny size, I thought after a month, I will see the bottom of it. As you can see, I have plenty of products I can use. A great deal for its price.
Vitamin E is the ingredient in Bee Fresh I count on to heal my acne. Unfortunately, I do not find Bee Fresh to be completely helpful. On the bright side, it does not make my acne worse either. So far my face still has acne marks and hormonal acne. I cannot blame Bee Fresh, my acne problems exist before I even use Bee Fresh.
I have to note that Bee Fresh claimed it is a makeup cleanser, moisturizer, and can give you fuller eyelash. I neither wear makeup nor I put it near my eyelashes, so I can’t say if it is true. But as a moisturizer that makes your skin naturally young, I recommend Bee Fresh to anyone!
