Can you smell the spookiness in the air? The ghastly aesthetics everywhere. Yes, Halloween is near and it is your chance to burst your inner ghouls by decorating your house. Do you know that you can reuse your stuff for Halloween decorations instead of buying one?

Hidden Material Around the House

People buy stuff and often forget about it. No wonder we often have things we let them be until the day we’re not too busy or too lazy to finally throw them away. Yet, that stuff you thought is trash is actually a hidden raw material for yearly Halloween decorations. Here are 4 of them:

  1. Plastic bottles

Let’s be honest, plastic bottles are very convenient. All you have to do is twist the cap, drink, and toss it. No wonder, in a household, there is at least one plastic bottle lying around somewhere.

Plastic bottles have many ways to be reused. In fact, there are at least 23 ways to recycle plastic bottles! How amazing that is?

For Halloween decorations, bottles can transform into a lot of things. You can turn bottles as spooky candle holders, a poison apple, a quick DIY witches broom, and many more!

2. Old shirts

How many times do you buy shirts in a year? Especially if you love shopping for shirts, you must have a pile of unused old shirts. Actually, Old shirts can be used as Halloween costume material but that’s not the only potential.

You can do a lot of things with an old shirt. For spooky decorative, you can hang them upfront like a scarecrow. You can also splash some red on them, spread it all over to make your garden looking like a murder scene, or you can simply hang them on the ceiling so they look like floating invisible spirits.

3. Toys

We all once were Andy and his toy, Woody. We play with our toys all the time then once we grow up, some of us put them in a box. Good news for you old toy keepers! Your toy can enjoy Halloween with you too!

There are tons of ways to make toys as decorative Halloween.

If you don’t feel like dissecting toys to make something completely different, you can adjust your lighting and organize your toys so it looks like they were alive until you come in.

Now, if you’re willing to put work into your toys, you can transform them into a lot of things. For example, You can turn a giraffe plastic figurine into a cup holder or give your candy bowl a creepy touch with a headless Barbie doll.

4. Paper

No matter how advanced our current technology, somehow paper still exists. Whether it’s a promotional letter, a newspaper, or just an old book you no longer bother to read, the paper is everywhere.

Do not let these papers go unused. Paper is actually a versatile Halloween decoration. You can make fake goth roses, unique origami, or even spooky art projects!

There are many more reusable materials you can find in your house and these only 4 of them. All you need is to dig more and remind yourself that even the “trashiest” looking thing can turn into a Halloween decoration that is worth praise. That being said, explore your inner craft, and Happy Halloween!
